A committee of local businessmen in Feni submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner and Police Super yesterday, demanding the recovery of 800 tolas of gold that were looted from Abedin Jewellers in the city on Saturday.
The memorandum also demanded the immediate arrest of the robbers.
The businessmen said they would undertake tougher measures if the gold was not recovered and the robbers were not arrested within two days.
A team led by the committee’s president Faruq Harun submitted the memorandum.
Police Super Poritosh Ghosh and Additional Deputy Commissioner Safiul Alam received the memorandum on behalf of the deputy commissioner.
Around 6:30pm on Saturday, robbers exploded 25-30 crude bombs and looted approximately 800 tolas of gold jewellery from Abedin Jewelers, situated on Khaza Ahmed road in Feni.
