Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the third Boeing-777-300ER aircraft in the national air fleet on Tuesday at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The prime minister said she believes Biman Bangladesh Airlines would be a feasible organisation which would earn honour for the nation if its officials and employees work honestly.
She said: "Biman acts as the representative of Bangladesh abroad and it flies across the world as the symbol of our independence.”
“So, honour and dignity of the nation depends on your professionalism and quality of service,” she said.
Meanwhile, Biman officially announced the closure of operations for its legendary Douglas DC-10 aircrafts.
The last flight of the DC-10 would be from Dhaka to Birmingham (UK) via Kuwait on February 20.
Hasina said an e-ticketing system and duty free sky-shopping would be introduced for Biman while its catering services would also see an improvement.
She also praised Biman for the services it provided to Hajj pilgrims.
