16 Shibir men held in Hajaribagh

Police arrested some 16 members of Islami Chhatra Shibir from a mess building in the capital’s West Dhanmondi, under Hajaribagh police station, late Monday night.

The detainees were arrested with a large number of Jihadi books, leaflets, banners and other publications.

Hajaribagh police station Sub-Inspector Jalilur Rahman said: “Acting on a tip-off, police raided the house on Haji Afsar Uddin Road in West Dhanmondi and arrested the Shibir men, who are aged between 20 to 25 years of age.”

“All arrestees are students. They were arrested with at least 50 jihadi and provocative books, anti-government publications, leaflets, banners and other such materials,” he said.

They were arrested while they were holding a meeting discussing subversive activities, the SI added.
