Tazreen owner denied bail, wife granted

A Dhaka court has sent the managing director of Tazreen Fashions Limited to jail, rejecting his bail petition while his wife has secured ad-interim bail for a month.

Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate Ismail Hossain passed the verdict on Monday afternoon, completing the hearing in this case.

Tazreen's Managing Director Delwar Hossain and his wife Mahmuda Akter Mita, the chairman, filed the plea with the court in the morning.

Lawyer ATM Golam Daud represented the Tazreen owner and his wife while the court's Additional Public Prosecutor Anwarul Kabir Babul represented state.

Earlier on Sunday, the Tazreen boss and his wife surrendered to court and was sent to jail, scrapped of a bail plea in a case over death of 111 workers in Tazreen fire.

Arrest warrants were out against the duo and four others on December 31 last year.

On November 24, 2012, a devastating fire broke out at Tazreen Fashions and 111 workers were dead officially, what was one of the worst such incident in the globe.
