The railway communication between Dhaka-Chittagong and Chittagong-Sylhet routes have been halted as a compartment of a wagon was derailed at near Akhaura Railway Station on Sunday evening.
Due to the derailment, different trains from and to Chittagong had to be halted in different railway stations, said railway sources.
Besides, the schedules of Dhaka and Sylhet bound trains from Chittagong may be delayed due to the derailment, said AA Samsul Alam, station manager of Chittagong Railway Station.
Rescue trains rushed to the spot to make clear the rail tracks, he added.
