Chief whip: Media should apologise

Chief Whip of 10th parliament ASM Feroz has said journalists should apologise for presenting his comment in media making caricature.

In a query of journalists, he said the media who published this news to dispute him to the nation have to apologise to the nation.

On Friday, the chief whip publicly asked for money instead of crests from those who wanted to felicitate him during a reception programme at his constituency Bauphal in Patuakhali.

At the press conference, the chief whip said he had addressed as “I want cash” while joking with his party leaders. However, media published this news making caricature.

“I have made those comments as a casual chat but newspapers wanted to dispute with me by publishing the matter,” the newly appointed chief whip said at a press briefing at Parliament Media Centre.

He added that the media has done an unethical deed by publishing the matter.

“This news will create a bad image of me among the people, both home and abroad,” he said.

He called this briefing to explain his comment of Friday in his constituency.

He claimed a group of people of his constituency are continuing to make conspiracies against him for personal interests.

“I have been victimised of conspiracy. A portion of local politicians, identify themselves as Awami League, they are interested to be a candidate from my constituency so they are plotting against me,” he said.

As a chief whip, is it possible to deliver such kind of comments? Responding to a query from reporters, he said it was a matter of sadness that all comments can become a news matter.
