The body of a woman, who went missing three days ago, has been recovered from a hotel room in Cox’s Bazar on Sunday afternoon.
Police handed the body of Asma Ul Sultana, daughter of Alamgir Hossain of Khilgaon of the capital, over to her uncle Md Jahangir Miah.
Sub-Inspector Kamal Abbas of Cox’s Bazar Sadar said the body was handed over to the family after autopsy. The legal proceedings were underway by the time this report had been filed.
After being informed by the hotel management, police recovered the Asma’s body from room No 110 of the Beach City Resort at around 5pm on Saturday by breaching into the room.
Police learned from resort officials that the woman had boarded on the resort at 9:30am, Friday and that her door had remained closed from the inside from that morning to Saturday afternoon.
The victim’s uncle Jahangir Mia said Asma Ul Sultana, a doctor of United Hospital at Dhaka, went missing since February 6 when she went off to a hospital.
He also said a general diary had been lodged with Khilgaon police station after there was no trace of her whereabouts with her in-laws never having contacted anyone from her parents’ side regarding the matter.
Asma is married to Mahdi Masum, an Engineer by occupation, according to her uncle.
