A photo exhibition, titled Words in Silence, a tribute to Faisal Kabir Raktim, organised by the Rajshahi Photographic Society (RPS), is now on at the Drik Gallery, situated in Dhanmondi, Dhaka. The exhibit consists of 100 photographs of 90 photographers from all over Bangladesh and 10 by Faisal Kabir Raktim to whom the exhibition has been dedicated to.
The exhibition started on February 6, Thursday and will continue until 8pm today. It was formally opened by famous ornithologist and photographer Inam al Haque. Renowned photojournalist Pavel Rahman and other acclaimed photographers were also present at the event.
The event was coordinated by Advocate Rashedun Nabi and Majeda Akhter. RPS Chairperson Farid Akhter Porag, Advisor Advocate Mohsin Khan, Rajshahi Collegiate School Alumni Association General Secretary M Hannan, Barendra College Prinicipal AlamgirMalek, Raktim’s father Md Shamsul Kabir and Md Towsif Islam spoke on the occasion.
The exhibition was primarily organised by few of Raktim’s friends and classmates of Rajshahi Collegiate School, including Towsif Islam, Md Redwan Rakib Mugdho, Md Rakibul Islam, Md Mahmud Islam and Md Mamunur Rahman.
RPS Vice-chairperson Tanvirul Hosain, General Secretary M K Ferdous Ahmed Sumit, Assistant General Secretary Nasir Anwar Ovi, Organising Secretary Sheikh Md Atiqur Rahman Russo and others were also present in the event.
The exhibition featured vibrant and colourful photographs from everyday lives, from both amateur and professional photographers. It was dedicated to Faisal Kabir Raktim, a young and promising photographer who died an untimely death last year when he was only 24 years old.
