Indian national held with gold bars

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Wednesday morning have detained an Indian national with smuggled gold bars from no-man's land area adjacent to Benapole frontier of the district.

BSF personnel seized 25 pieces of gold bars weighed around two and a half kilogram from him.

Port sources said, the arrestee is identified as Gopal Kumar, owner of Hawlader Money Changer at Petrapole, India.

Subedar Abdullah, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) camp in-charge at Benapole, told Dhaka Tribune that BSF arrested Gopal while he was moving to India from Benapole.

'BSF also seized 25 gold bars after searching him', he added.

Port sources said Gopalwas used to use the route very often in transporting Bangladeshi goods.
