Police nabbed 42 youths from Government Bangla College dormitory in capital's Mirpur. They said the raid was “precautionary ahead of any untoward incident.”
A big contingent of Darussalam police conducted the raid overnight on Tuesday. A pistol, 14 bullets, three magazines and 20 knives were found abandoned.
None of them were identified as criminals, Darussalam police station Officer-in-Charge Rafiqul Islam said. “They are being interrogated at the police station.”
The detainees were young and almost all of them were students of other educational institutions of the capital and elsewhere.
Regarding the motive of the drive, the OC said “it was conducted as part of precautionary steps before any wrong or untoward incident takes place.”
