Case filed for attacking on Satkania MP

A case was filed against Jamaat-Shibir men with Lohagora police station on Saturday for attack on Satkania MP Abu Reza Mohammad Nejamuddin Nadvi.

MdShahjahan, officer-in-charge of Lohagora police, said SI Abdul Awal filed the case accusing 3000 including Chittagong Jamaat-e-IslamiAmeer (chief) Shamsul Islam as prime accused.  

Activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing IslamiChhatraShibir attacked Nadvi, AL lawmaker from Chittagong’s Satkania constituency, at a religious programme in Lohagara Friday night. 

Md Shahjahan, officer-in-charge of Lohagara police told the Dhaka Tribune that some Jamaat-Shibir activists had thrown shoes to Nadvi as soon as he arrived at SiratMahfil, a 19-day religious programme at Shah ShahebKebla under Chunati union of Lohagara upazila.

Later, the MP, the chief guest at the programme, along with his followers took shelter at an adjacent mosque.

A team of Lohagora police rushed to the spot and tried to control the situation, the OC said.

Members of paramilitary force BGB also went to the spot.

They rescued the lawmaker around 11pm.

While talking to the Dhaka Tribune, Nadvi said that the attack had been pre-planned.

The Satkania constituency comprising Lohagara and Satkaniaupazilas is known as a Jamaat-Shibir den.
