Rawshan: Shun politics of vengeance

Leader of the opposition in the 10th parliament Begum Rawshan Ershad today urged all to shun the politics of vengeance and work for the welfare of the country and its people, BSS reports.

"We should shun the politics of vengeance, as we have many other important things to do for the people who have elected us as parliament members," the opposition leader told the House in her thanksgiving speech in the first sitting of the first session of the 10th parliament with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudury in the chair.

She expressed her due respect to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for snatching Independence for Bangladesh and said, “We have to work united to complete his unfinished works to build a hunger and poverty free Bangladesh dreamt by Bangabandhu."

Rawshan Ershad congratulated the speaker for her nomination for the second time and lauded her brilliant and outstanding academic career that helped her to get such honour as the JS speaker.

She hailed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for taking a time- befitting decision for holding the January 5 general election only to continue the country's democratic practices.

The opposition leader also sought cooperation of the House, especially the Speaker, so that the opposition could perform a positive as well as conducive role to make the parliament effective.
