Salman Khan’s Jai Ho ‘s box office collections indicate a strong opening weekend with an impressive Rs1.0126bn gross worldwide, despite a non holiday weekend. Produced by Eros International Media Ltd and Sohail Khan Productionz, the Salman Khan starrer released across approximately 5000 screens worldwide on January 24.
Mania for all things Salman Khan drove audiences to the ticket counters during the opening weekend and it amassed a significant Rs0.79bn gross in India and Rs0.22bn overseas.
At the domestic front, Jai Ho box office collections opened quite slow at Rs0.18bn on Friday followed by Rs0.17bn on Saturday - film’s collections showed a 64% jump on Sunday garnering an attractive Rs0.26bn at the domestic BO.
Speaking on the film opening, Nandu Ahuja, senior vice president, India Theatrical, Eros International Media Limited said, “Salman Khan fans have given a huge thumbs up to Jai Ho.”
The film, which is is packed with Salman Khan in over-the-top style action sequences along with the emotion-packed human interest angles, Jai Ho struck the right chord with fans.
“This is an outstanding opening and his highest where we didn’t have the added advantage of a long weekend,” says Ahuja.
Directed by Sohail Khan, Jai Ho also stars Tabu, Daisy Shah and Danny Denzongpa in prominent roles.
