Family of a schoolgirl has raised allegation that the girl died after taking vaccination for measles-rubella, in Gazipur on Monday afternoon.
Afroza, 12, was a student of class VI in Protappur High School.
A five-member probe committee headed by Civil Surgeon Dr Shah Alam Sharif has been formed to investigate the incident.
Afroza’s uncle Aman Ullah said: “Afroza fell unconscious soon after she was given the measles-rubella vaccine sometime around 1pm.”
She was rushed to Gazipur Sadar Hospital where the duty doctor declared her dead, he added.
Noting that measles-rubella vaccine does not have death risk, Gazipur Civil Surgeon Dr Shah Alam Sharif said: “We heard that Afroza was a patient of asthma and heart diseases, but the reason behind her death is not confirmed yet.”
The district administration and health department authorities visited the school in the evening where the children were being vaccinated.
