Popular theatre troupe Mohakal Natya Sampraday will stage the 49th show of its acclaimed production Nishimon Bishorjon today, at 7pm, at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA).
Based on Tagore’s popular play Bishorjon, the play was adapted by talented playwright Anan Jaman and was directed by Ashik Rahman Lion. The play features how religious superstition and religious fundamentalism creates obstacles on the way to social progress. The play is the 27th production of Mohakal.
The play starts with Nishimon, a girl from north Bangladesh, narrating her tragic story to the river Gomti. She has lost her beloved,
Tarataj, who was killed during a suicide bomb attack. Later, it is revealed that Tarataj was a member of an extremist group, and he was carrying the bomb.
The cast of the play includes Mir Zahid Hasan, Kamruzzaman Sabuz, Poly Biswas, Ferdous Ikram, Zahidul Kamal Chowdhury Dipu,
Iqbal Chowdhury, Imtu, Shikha Das, Badhon, Sonia, Nivel Hawlader, Abul Kalam Azad, Rasel Ahmed, Mainul Islam, Mohammad Shahnewaz among others.
