Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, former energy adviser to the prime minister, has once more been made her adviser for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources.
According to the Press Information Department, the prime minister has appointed him as her energy adviser under section 3(B) (1) of Rules of Business, 1996.
He will enjoy the status, facilities and allowances as a full minister, the government handout added.
He resigned from his earlier position on November 27, last year.
Towfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury's role was questioned as he reportedly used to run the ministry and interfere with administrative decisions.
As the energy ministry did not have any full minister, Towfiq used to run the activities of the ministry. During his tenure, he has given the nod to several rental power plant projects which later became controversial.
