Jamaat-e-Islami called 6am-12noon hartal in Kotchandpur and Moheshpur upazilas of Jhenaidah for Monday protesting a death of their leader.
Matiar Rahman, a central committee Jamaat member, confirmed the hartal-call in the two upazilas. The 18-party alliance has endorsed the hartal.
The hartal was called protesting death of Jamaat leader Enamul Haque Biswas in what police said gunfight with Jamaat supporters on Sunday.
Kotchandpur upazila Jamaat chief Tajul Islam claimed plain-clothed policemen picked up Biswas on Saturday afternoon and later shot him dead.
Jhenaidah district BNP President and central committee Organising Secretary Mashiur Rahman said his party has endorsed the hartal.
