3rd Shitalakkha bridge construction deal signed

The communications ministry signed a deal with Bangladeshi construction firm SARM Associates Limited to carry out the Third Shitalakkha bridge construction project.

Chief Engineer of Roads and Highways Department Md Aminur Rahman Laskar and Managing Director of SARM Associates Limited HM Abdul Matin signed the contract on behalf of their respective organisations.

Communications Minister Obaidul Quader made the disclosure at a press conference at the ministry’s conference room on Sunday morning.

“The government’s first 100 days’ plan is to renovate the wrecked roads across the country,” said the minister.

Roads and Highways Department will implement the Third Shitalakkha bridge construction project at an expense of Tk377.63 crore.

Of the total expense, the Saudi Fund for Development will provide Tk311.65 crore while the government will bear Tk65.98 crore.

The length of the bridge will be 1290 metre and width 22.10 metre.

The four-lane bridge will have 2.13km access road.

Pre-construction activities will be continued for the next six months.
