Suchitra Sen’s film retrospective begins tomorrow

The Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre pays tribute to Bengali screen goddess Suchitra Sen by organising a film retrospective which begins tomorrow.   

The three-day retrospective presenting a total of six timeless films of the Mohanayika will be held at the IGCC auditorium in Gulshan-1. The Suchitra Sen Film Retrospective will commence at 6:30pm tomorrow with a brief discussion on the life and works of the legendary actor. Eminent Bangladeshi film and cultural personalities, Syed Hasan Imam, Pijush Bandyopadhyay and Abdur Razzak will participate at the inaugural event which will be followed by the screening of her first film Saptapadi.

The second day’s programme features Uttar Phalguni, Shat Paake Bandha and Andhi at 10am, 4pm and 6:45pm respectively. On the concluding day, two films—Devdas and Pothe Holo Deri—will be screened at 10:30am and 3pm respectively.

Suchitra Sen passed away early in the morning on 17 January, 2014 in Kolkata at the age of 82. Her demise left a big void in Indian cinema, but she will remain in the hearts of cinema-lovers forever.
