Gaibandha gunshot Shibir man dies

A Shibir activist, who sustained bullet injuries in clash between Jamaat-Shibir activists and joint forces on Saturday, succumbed to his injuries at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogra on early Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Shohanur Rahman Sohag, 16, son of Shafiqul Qazi of Sundarganj upazilla in Gaibandha.

Confirming the death, Sub-Inspector Mir Raihan of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital police outpost, claimed Sohag was a Shibir activist. But, Sohag’s family members rejected the claim, reports our Bogra correspondent Hasibur Rahman Bilu.

Hasemuzzaman, general secretary of Islami Chhatar Shibir of Gaibandha unit claimed Sohag was a Shibir activist, added our Gaibandha correspondent Shahiduzzaman.

Earlier on Saturday, joint forces conducted a raid in Sundarganj upazilla. At one stage, being attacked by Jamaat-Shibir men, joint forces locked in clashes with them, leaving 50 people, including 22 police men, injured.

Bullet-hit Sohag was admitted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.
