PM: Terrorism to be curbed in Satkhira

Terrorist activity will be curbed no matter the cost in the district of Satkhira, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said.

The premier made the remarks on Monday during a view exchange meeting in Satkhira circuit house.

"The joint forces’ drive will be continued in the district to detain the terrorists," she said.

Hasina is visiting violence-torn areas in Satkhira, which is a known stronghold for the Jamaat, where the Hindu minorities were subjected to various instances of post-election violence.

The PM arrived at Satkhira Stadium at 1:20pm.

She will visit the affected areas that came under attack of the Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Chhatra Shibir.

She will also visit the affected Hindu families and houses of Awami League leaders. The PM will address a mass-assembly, organised by the Satkhira Zilla Awami League.

The PM will inaugurate a total of 11 projects including laying the foundation stone for the Satkhira Medical College construction project and the ee-digging of Kopotakkho River.

After the January 5 parliamentary elections, many Hindu families and AL leaders became the victims of attacks perpetrated by Jamaat-Shibir men. Many of them left their houses during arson attacks and many have yet to return.
