A fire broke out at a multi-storey building adjacent to the Nazrul Institute in the capital’s Dhanmondi on Saturday afternoon.
Ziaur Rahman, of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD), said the fire broke out on the 1st floor of a six-storey residential building no-32 on Road-28 at around 4pm.
On information, two units of the fire fighters from the capital’s Mohammadpur Fire Station rushed to the spot and doused the blaze.
Alamgir Hossain, a mobilising officer of the fire service, said the fire originated from a short circuit at the dining room of an apartment around 4pm.
He said only the maid was present in the house.
However, she was not injured as she took shelter in the toilet.
