An assistant sub-inspector of Kaliakoir police station has been withdrawn from his post on allegation of taking bribe from the relatives of an accused.
ASI Jakir Hossain has been closed to the Gazipur police line.
Gazipur Police Superintendent Abdul Baten made the order against him on Saturday morning.
OC Omar Faruq of Kaliakoir police station said ASI Jakir arrested Anwarul who was a marketing representative by occupation from Matikata area under the upazila around 8pm on January 12.
Later police filed a case against him showing recovery of 100gm of banned narcotics cannabis.
Family members of the accused alleged that police took bribe of Tk10,000 in two phases on January 12 and January 13 from them following the incident.
The family members had a recorded conversation with ASI Jakir over the matter.
In this connection, police authority has taken action against the police official.
SP Baten told journalists that Jakir was closed as primary evidence relating to the allegation found.
