At least five people were injured in an explosion that took place inside a messing facility at the capital’s Progoti Sarani in the early hours of Saturday.
Injured Mohammad Shahjalal, 20, Yusuf Hossain, 21, Sohel Rana, 20, Russel, 18, and Habibur Rahman, 20 were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The reason behind the blast, that took place on the first floor of a six-storied building at Coca Cola intersection, could not be ascertained immediately.
The injured persons claimed that the explosion took place because of gas leak.
Sub-inspector Nazrul Islam, a duty officer of Bhatara police station, said they did not hear of the incident but they would look into the matter.
