Ganajagaran motorcade attacked

The motorcade of Ganajagaran Mancha’s road march has come under attack in two phases in Shahjahanpur and Sherpur on Friday evening.

Abdul Mannan, officer-in-charge of Shahjahanpur police station, told the Dhaka Tribune that some unidentified miscreants hurled three crude bombs at a bus of the motorcade at around 8:30pm.

Later, police shot five rounds of rubber bullets in the area.

Another bus of the motorcade was come under attack in Sherpur bus stand area at around 7:30pm.

Ali Ahmed Hashmi, officer-in-charge of Sherepur police station, told the Dhaka Tribune that miscreants hurled bricks at a bus of Ganajagaran Mancha’s road march.

Wares, additional superintendent of police in Bogra, said the glass of a window of the bus was broken. But none was injured in the incident.

However, Ganajagaran Mancha activists claimed that several of them have been injured in the attack.

Ganajagaran activist Baki Billah, who was there with the motorcade, told the Dhaka Tribune that several have been injured in the attacks. The number would six to seven.

Maksudul Islam, a war-wounded freedom fighter, have had injuries as the broken shards of window glasses were embedded in his body after bricks were thrown on the moving bus.

In another bus, several others including Chatra Moitree leader Tanvir Rusmat were injured in the same attack, Baki Billah claimed. 

Earlier, three crude bombs were hurled at a rally of Ganajagaran Mancha in Sathmatha area of Bogra around 4:45pm.

Ganajagaran Mancha's road march is on its way towards Thakurgaon to protest the recent atrocities against members of the local Hindu community, centring their participation on the 10th parliamentary elections.
