New ministers attended their offices on Monday morning, a day after being sworn-in to the cabinet, with the ninth parliament still in effect.
Law Minister Anisul Haque, Primary and Mass Education Minister Mustafizur Rahman and Junior Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal were seen at the secretariat after 9am.
Forest Minister Anwar Hossain Manju, deputy Water Resources Minister Abdullah Al Islam Jacob and Social Welfare Minister Mohosin Ali were also seen later.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed and Minister for Housing and Public Works Mosharraf Hossain were also seen attending offices.
Anisul Haque told the Dhaka Tribune that the task of law ministry was a challenge and that he was determined to uphold the rule of law.
Mostafizur Rahman said he is committed to maintain the progress of his primary and mass education ministry in line with Awami League’s manifesto.
A total of 49 ministers led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina were sworn into the cabinet on Sunday for what was effectively the formation of a new government.
More than half of the newly formed cabinet is composed of new faces, not seen in the cabinet of the preceding Awami League-led government.
However, while BNP said that the new government was unconstitutional, several high-ups defended the new government and nullified any constitutional barriers.
Awami League was re-elected in the January 5 polls that took place under a polls-time body with the provision of caretaker scrapped from constitution.
However, the term of the previous Awami League-led government expires on January 24.
