A 10-member Bangladesh Kabaddi team will participate in an Invitational Kabaddi tournament to be held at Narasapuram, West Godavari District in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh from tomorrow.
The participation of the women’s kabaddi team is considered as a build-up for the Asian Games that will be held in Incheon, Korea in September. Walton became the jersey sponsor while they will also provide some additional facilities to the team.
A total of 20 state teams from India will participate in the meet. However, the kabaddi team has not obtained the Indian visa yet and they are expected to receive it today. “We have requested the tournament organisers to put our matches in the later part of the meet. If we obtain the visa tomorrow we will travel as earlier as possible,” said coach Subimol Chandra Das in a briefing at the BNS yesterday.
Both coach and the captain hoped the players earn valuable experience in the meet. “The standard of the many Indian state teams are almost same as the main Indian team. We will get valuable exposure from the tour,” said the captain Shanaz Parvin Maleka.
Additional director of Walton AFM Iqbal bin Anwar Dawn, Kabaddi Federation treasurer MA Mannan were also present on the occasion.
