A readymade garment worker has been killed in a clash with police in Korean EPZ, Chittagong on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased was one Parvin Akter, 18, a garment worker of KEPZ.
Abul Basher, outpost in-charge of Chittagong Medical College Hospital told the Dhaka Tribune.
At least 15 others, including three police men, were injured in the clash ensued at 1pm when the police were trying to disperse the agitated workers who confined the officials of KSA factory of the Youngone Group,Inspector Arifur Rahman Arif of industrial police, Chittagong said.
The agitating workers vandalised and set fire to the factory over wage issues, quoting witnesses, Niaz Morshed, assistant commissioner of the port zone of Chittagong Metropolitan of Police told the Dhaka Tribune.
Meanwhile, two units of the fire service doused the fire in the factory, Deputy Assistant Director of Chittagong Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarter Md Jashim Uddin said.
Korean EPZ (KEPZ) is located in Anwara Upazila under Karnaphuli police station.
