Over a hundred shanties were feared gutted in a fire that broke out in Jhautala Bosti in the port city of Chittagong on Monday morning.
The fire broke out around at the slum, located beside the office of meteorological department, around 1:35pm, local Fire Service and Civil Defence said.
Seven fire fighting units brought the flames under control after one hour of efforts, local fire service Deputy Assistant Director Jashimuddin said.
The official could not tell about the source of fire or any casualties incurred. However, he feared that over a hundred shanties might be gutted.
