Jatiya Party Presidium member Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu, also the adviser to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has unofficially won from Chittagong 9 (Kotwali) constituency.
The result was announced from the Returning Officer’s office in Chittagong.
He was contested by Workers Party candidate Abu Hanif. Bablu bagged 79,770 votes while Hanif secured 3,599 votes.
His victory in these polls brings the 9th win for his party.
On November 19, the ruling Awami League-led grand alliance government appointed Jatiya Party (Ershad) Presidium Member Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu as an adviser to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“The Prime Minister appointed him her adviser in exercise of power bestowed under the rule 3B(i) of the Rules of Business 1996,” said a PID handout.
Bablu enjoyed the rank and status, salary-allowances and other facilities similar to a full minister.
