Activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir hacked an assistant presiding officer at a local bazar in Borolekha of Moulvibazar on Saturday night.
Critically injured Selim was sent to Osmani Medical College Hospital in Sylhet. A teacher by profession, he hails from Borolekha upazila.
Superintended of Police Tofail Ahmed told the Dhaka Tribune that the Jamaat-shibir activists chopped Selim with sharp weapons while he was returning home on a motorcycle around 7:30pm.
Later police took him to a local hospital.
