Ban on motorbike-passengers lifted

The ban on carrying passengers on motorcycles was withdrawn on Thursday, according to a notice of Bangladeh Road Transport Authority.

The notice, signed by BRTA Director Motiar Rahman was issued on Thursday, three days ahead of the January 5 national elections.

However, a non-stop blockade programme of the main opposition BNP-led 18-party alliance is on until the elections date.

Earlier on December 28, carrying passengers on motorcycles was banned ahead of the curbing measures taken ahead of BNP’s Dhaka March programme.

Reason was stated that miscreants were using motorcycles to lob crude bombs throughout the capital.
