‘Militancy may arise for political disagreement’

Members of Ain O Salish Kendra have expressed apprehension of any militant organisation’s uprising because of the disagreements among the political parties.

“If the political parties do not reach a consensus over the ongoing situation, then there might be an uprising of terrorist party, militant organisation or even a third party,” Nur Khan, acting executive director of ASK, said.

He also expressed deep anxiety over the country’s present human rights situation.

He added that people’s constitutional rights are being hampered because of the political violence.

The human rights organisation has presented the “Human Rights Overview 2013” in a press conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity on Tuesday morning.

Senior Investigative Officer of the organisation Abu Ahmed Fayez Kabir presented the report.

The report focuses on recent political violence, disappearances, attack on minorities, harassment to the journalists and the Rana Plaza tragedy.
