Road accidents kill four

Road accidents in Gazipur, Magura and Barisal left four dead and five injured.

In Magura, Kamruzzaman, 32, of Mohammadpur-Nauhata village, was killed in the Chaulia bus stand area yesterday.

Police said a truck hit Kamruzzaman as he was crossing the road, leaving him critically injured. He was taken to Magura Sadar Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Police seized the truck but its driver managed to escape.

In Gazipur, a head-on collision between a bus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Damarpara on Joydebpur-Pubile road under sadar upazila left three injured yesterday, reports our correspondent. 

Witnesses said the collision occured around 7:30am, leaving three injured. However, one of the victims died later in Gazipur Sadar Hospital. He was identified as Ashraful  Alam Sabuz, 35, of Bakterpur village under Kaliagonj upazila.

In Barisal, two youths were killed and three were injured in two separate road accidents on Wednesday night.

Police said Sohag Rari, 22, a student at Government Baisal College, was killed when a sand-laden truck hit him in the Natun Bazaar area around 10pm.

In another accident, one was killed and two others were injured when an oil-tanker hit a three wheeler at the Sonarbangla area on Barisal-Dhaka Highway around 11pm on Wednesday.
