Two individuals, cousins to each other, were killed after being crushed under the wheels of a recklessly-driven truck in the capital’s Gulistan on Thursday morning.
The deceased were Md Abdus Salam, 24, and Opu, 22, both of whom hailed from Jamalpur.
Morshedul Alam, officer-in-charge of Paltan police station, said: “A speeding truck ran over the rickshaw that the victims were riding on at 5am, they were on way to Kamrangirchar from Kamalapur Railway Station. The incident left them dead on the spot."
The OC said the vehicle or its driver could not be detained as he had fled the scene immediately after the incident.
Their bodies were sent to the Dhaka Medical College morgue.
