Six cattle were burnt alive when pickets hurled petrol bombs at a cattle-loaded truck in Foujderhat area of Chittagong on early Tuesday.
Iftekharuddin Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Sitakunda police station, said pickets hurled petrol bombs at the truck around 5am. The truck lost control and fell on the nearby shops, causing five shops burnt and six cattle to be killed.
Three fire-fighting units rushed to the spot and doused the flames in two hours, said Jasim Uddin, deputy assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters in Chittagong.
The truck driver was admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital with burn injuries, said the OC.
