Mobile transactions surge 8.6% in November

Transactions under the Mobile Financial Service (MFS) system increased by nearly 8.6% to Tk5,533 crore in November from the previous month’s Tk5,095 crore, showed a Bangladesh Bank report yesterday. In the month, a total of 2.67 crore transactions took place under the system.

According to the MFS report, the number of registered agents stood at some 172,000 while the number of registered clients reached 1.15 crore at 15.70% monthly growth rate.

Of different types of transaction, the “cash-in” transaction was the most popular among the MFS users, the data showed.

A total of 1 crore “cash-in” transactions were made by the users in November with an amount totalling Tk2,333 crore which was 7.81% higher than the previous month.

The use of MFS to pay utility bills and in person-to-person transactions has also surged by 52.38% and 21.04% respectively in November.
