14 petrol bombs recovered at Sher-e-Banglanagar

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab-2) members recovered 14 petrol bombs found at an abandoned state in capital’s Sher-e-Banglanagar on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Superintendent of Police Raihan Uddin Khan, the operation officer of Rab-2, said they recovered 14 petrol bombs at around 2:30pm near Government Staff Quarters at Sher-e-Banglanagar, few hours after the recovery 32 crude bombs, one kilogram of gunpowder, five daggers and huge quantity of bomb-making materials in the capital's Geneva Camp in Mohammadpur area around 11:30am.

ASP Raihan said those petrol bombs might have been made for carrying out subversive acts during the hartal and blockade programmes.

“As those bombs were recovered at an abandoned state from the roadside, none could be arrested in this connection”, he said.

Earlier on Friday, Rab-2 personnel recovered 100 bombs, 1 kg gunpowder and huge other materials used for making bombs at the Geneva Camp following an explosion during bomb making, when three of the criminals also sustained injuries.
