PBCP activist found dead in Jhenaidah

Police recovered the body of an activist belonging to the Purba Bangla Communist Party from a maize field in Pantapara village under the Jhenaidah sadar upazila on Saturday evening.

The deceased was Sirajul Islam, 35, son of Adil Uddin of Pantapara village under the same upazila.

Jhenaidah police station Officer-in-charge Kazi Jalal Uddin Ahmed said: “Sirajul was an active activist of Purba Bangla Communist Party of the region.”

A number of cases were filed against him at separate police stations, the cases include murder, abduction, and bombing, he said.

Assuming Sirajul might have been strangled to death, OC said: “Factional feud might be one of the reasons behind the incident.”

Police sent the body to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital morgue for post mortem examinations.
