Hundreds of fans and followers paid respects at the coffin of prominent theatre and small screen actor and director Khaled Khan at Shaheed Minar on Saturday morning.
His coffin was first taken at University of Liberal Arts Banlgadesh where his students paid last respects around 10am. The actor was a treasurer of the university.
His body was then taken to central Shaheed Minar at around 10:30am. Hundreds of fans and his colleagues paid there last respects at his coffin there.
His Namaz-e-Janaza was held at Dhaka University central mosque after Zohr prayers.
Besides, the body was taken to Shilpakala Academy for his friends and colleagues to pay their last respect to the actor.
Later his body will be buried in his home-soil in Musdui village of Mirzapur, Tangail, his brother Shahin Khan said.
Suffering from motor neuron disease for the past 12 years, Khaled Khan died undergoing treatments at Birdem Hospital in the capital around 8:10pm Friday.
He was on life-support since last week after a respiratory attack.
Born on February 9, 1958, Khaled Khan gained popularity on television and stage starring in numerous plays. He joined the leading theatre group Nagorik Natya Sampradaya in 1978. He has received many awards including the IT Theatre Award 2013.
He worked as treasurer for the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh. He was previously the finance director of the institution and had earlier served as the registrar and deputy director of administration.
