108,260 yaba tablets recovered in Cox’s Bazar

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel, in separate drives, seized some 108,260 pieces of the banned narcotic yaba tablet from Teknaf upazila, Cox’s Bazar on Friday.

BGB personnel recovered the abandoned yaba tablets worth some Tk32,478,000 near the bank of River Naf in the morning.

Lieutenant Colonel Abu Jar Al Zahid, commander of BGB-42 in Teknaf, said: “Acting on a tip off, BGB personnel recovered some 48,694 pieces of yaba tablets from the area near sluice gate no-1 around 8am, while further 59,566 pieces were recovered from an area adjacent to the sluice gate around 11am.”

He said the tablets would be destroyed later in presence of the law enforcers, narcotics department officials and other administrative officials.
