The eyes of the nation were laid upon Dhaka Central Jail awaiting each moment that passed in uncertainty ahead of the execution of Jamaat-e-Islami leader Abdul Quader Molla.
Dhaka Central Jail was surrounded in top security as some hundreds of law enforcers were seen cordoning off jail premises on Thursday.
Civil Surgeon was seen entering the jail along with a doctor around 9:30pm, Dhaka Tribune Correspondent Mohammad Jamil Khan reported from scene.
Deputy Inspector General (prisons), Dhaka district magistrate, Imam of Dhaka Central Jail Mosque and IG (prisons) were already inside, sources said.
However, there were no official statements made as to when “the Butcher of Mirpur” will be executed until 9:53pm Thursday.
Earlier on Tuesday, Quader Molla was saved about one and half hour ahead of his execution after intervention of his lawyers.
