Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh on Wednesday called a daylong hartal in greater Chittagong for Sunday protesting the government’s refusal to give it permission for its scheduled rally in the city.
The Islamist group will also stage demonstrations after Juma prayers
on Friday protesting the government action.
The announcement came from a meeting of Hefazat central committee held at Hathazari at noon.
Hefazat Organising Secretary Maulana Azizul Haque Islamabadi said authorities concerned did not give them permission to hold their two-day rally at Jamiatul Falah Mosque ground in the city today and tomorrow.
