Some 26 spice shops were gutted in a fire at Rajabazar area in Bogra district on Monday night.
Businessmen sources said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at a closed shop and soon engulfed nearby 25 shops around 9pm.
Delowar Hossain Rana, senior station officer of Bogra Fire Service said firefighters doused the blaze after frantic effort of three hours.
Meanwhile, firefighter Md Shahjahan Molla was injured while trying to douse the blaze.
President of Rajabazar Shop Owners Union, Md Anis Mia claimed spices were worth Tk15crore, cash worth TK2crore and infrastructure worth Tk50lakh were burnt in the fire.
Businessman Md Atikul Islam said local and imported spices worth around Tk70lakh and cash Tk10lakh were burnt in the fire at his shop.
