Govt hurrying Molla’s execution, claims family

The government is denying convicted war criminal Abdul Quader Molla of his rights and is in a hurry to execute him, the family of the Jamaat leader claimed.

Quader Molla’s wife Sarwar Jahan and his son Hasan Zamil at a press conference made the comment on Monday morning.

“Quader Molla has a right to appeal for review. But we came to know that the government wants to execute him in a hurry,” they said in the conference.

“Molla is being deprived of his constitutional rights. This defies the code of imprisonment,” they said while reading out a written speech.

The International Crimes Tribunal has issued death warrant for Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Abdul Quader Molla.

“This verdict is wrong,” the family said threatening that this verdict will enhance an Islamic movement.

“Quader Molla had no cases against him when this government came to power. We never thought it would come down to this.”

The family alleged that the execution of Quader Molla was moving under pressure of the Ganajagaran Mancha.

On the note of a probability of seeking clemency from President Abdul Hamid, the family said this decision will wait until talking to lawyers and Quader Molla.
