Thousands of passengers got stranded on Dhaka-Chittagong highway Friday morning as a 50-km tailback was created due to huge traffic flow.
Police said vehicular movement came to a halt from Maynamati to Daudkandi on the highway in the morning due to pressure of several thousand vehicles.
Officer-in-charge of Daudkandi highway police station, Mizanur Rahman, said that a large number of vehicles are plying the highway as the 18-party alliance’s 131-hour nonstop blockade ended on Friday with another 72-hour blockade to begin from Saturday.
The gridlock started to ease slightly around 12:30 pm, reports UNB.
