Speakers for dialogue between Hasina-Khaleda

Prominent citizens and a number of political analysts stressed that the country has been waiting for a dialogue between Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Opposition Leader Khaleda Zia, as it is the only way to resolve the current political deadlock.

They made the call while attending a citizen’s sit-in programme in the city.

They said that dialogue between two leaders is needed to solve the uncertainty about the upcoming national elections.

Bangladesh Rukhe Darou organised the programme on the Shaheed Minar premises on Friday morning.

Among others, former adviser of the last caretaker government Sultana Kamal and Prof Anisuzzaman were present at the programmes.

Earlier, a group of 6 eminent citizens, led by Dr. Kamal Hossain, met the president Abdul Hamid sought his initiative in the current political deadlockon November 26, a day after the election commission set the parliamentary election date for January 5, 2014.

Other members of the group were: Akbar Ali Khan, Sultana Kamal, Jamilur Reza Chowdhury, Shahdeen Malik and Badiul Alam Majumdar.
