Champa as Tarabanu in Liberation War based play

Eminent actor of silver screen Champa plays the role of a brave woman named Tarabanu in the single-episode play Sedin Tarabanu Aj Tarabanu, to be aired on Maasranga tonight at 8pm. Set to the backdrop of the Liberation War in 1971, the play is written by Masum Reza, directed by Abu Sufian Biplob and also features seasoned actor Tariq Anam Khan.

When the war breaks out, Tarabanu falls in trouble when she discovers her father-in-law named Wahed is a collaborator of Pakistani armed forces. Her husband Asman is also inspired by his father’s ideology. But, Tarabanu is a firm supporter of Muktibahini, Bengali resistance forces which fought against the Pakistani occupation army.  Finally she manages to convince her husband to join Muktibahini and fight for the independence of Bangladesh.

Later, the play turns to the current period where Asman and Tarabanu are divorced and he stays with his second wife and father. One day Wahed is accused of war crime by the court and Asman gets an unpleasant surprise to find out, that the case has been filed by Tarabanu.
