At least six people were killed in separate road accidents in Dhaka and Rangpur city on Monday.
A woman and her minor daughter were killed in a road accident in the city’s Badda area in the evening.
Mahinur Akhter, 32, wife of Jasim Uddin, and their daughter Jamila, 10, were knocked down by a ‘Turag Paribahan’ bus as they were crossing the road in front of Asian General Hospital around 6:30pm, according to Iqbal Hossain, Officer-in-charge of Badda police station. They were residing at the DIT Project in the area.
On receiving information, police recovered the bodies, seized the bus and arrested its driver, the OC said.
Meanwhile, four persons including a newsman were injured when a tractor collided head-on with an autobike at gallery crossing in Takurgoan town on Sunday night.
The injured are Monsur Ali, Takurgoan district correspondent of Daily Kartoa; autobike driver Mohammad Ali 50; senior officer of Takurgoan branch, Sonali Bank, Jotish Chandra, 45; and Shila Rani Sarkar, 35.
They were admitted to Takurgoan Sadar Hospital, before newsman Monsur Ali and autobike driver Mohammad Ali were shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
