A journalist was injured when Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatra Shibir activists attacked him during the 72-hour blockade Satkhira-Jessore highway in the district on Saturday morning.
The injured was identified as Reporter Yarab Hossain of Daily Manabzamin.
Sadar police station Officer-in-charge (OC) Enamul Hoque said: “Jamaat-Shibir activists stopped Yarab and beat him up while they took position on the highway around 11am.”
He said: “Locals rushed him to Satkhira Sadar Hospital in a critical condition.”
Sources said Yarab received severe injuries in the head.
Meanwhile, they blockade supporters set a motorbike of Tala upazila Olama League President Sheikh Ansar Ali on fire in Patkelghata area.
They reportedly blockaded different roads including Satkhira-Kaliganj road, Ramchandrapur intersection and Satkhira-khulna road to enforce the ongoing 72-hour blockade programme, suspending the vehicular movement on eight routes of the district.
